The last year has been pretty amazing for me. In a bad way ofcourse, otherwise I wouldn't be writing on such a topic, would I? I am a human like you and so as an ordinary humans would do, we think about the profoundness of life only when we are facing the hardest of our battles, otherwise we like to enjoy the good times. But thats not what I want to write about. Another thing before I start is that the eg stated below are not the ones that made me think. They are just a mean to hide the real things and even then make people understand what I want to say and so most of them may appear a bit exaggerated.
My wars made me think what does growing up really mean?
So here are a few results of raking my brain a lot.
First and the most important thing about growing up is to understand that all the stories and movies that we have watched are fiction. All the happy endings with happily ever after never happen. I mean, look around. We all hate corruption and the selfish leaders, but tell me can some anil kapoor really stand up, ref nayak, and change our society to an ideal one? and so this also leads to the conclusion that in reality there are no heroes, there are just people who can convince you that they are your heroes and make you do things the way they want. Worse, sometimes you know that these are fake but even then you have no option but to do what they ask of you.
Second thing is working hard doesn't guarantee you success. You can give a thing your everything and even then you don't get the desired result and the worse thing about this is that you don't know who to blame this on. This is the difficult part. I wouldn't say that be proud that you tried. Thats just a way to make you feel better. In the end what matters are the results of what you set out to do. So the only thing you can do is suck it up, admit that you failed and move on, give it another try.
Third is that as you grow up, the solution to a fight is not a discussion or a brawl, but to conveniently forget what happened, first, and second to try and forget the person, however close he/she maybe to you. No aamir khan will go and talk to akshay khanna, in whatever bad condition akshay maybe(ref DCH). A broken ego and a hurt pride is always more important than a fellow human. The golden rule here is, the closer you are to a person the more he is gonna hurt you.
Fourth, hope is the worst thing of all. It makes you blind. It is the reason why any bad thing hurts us a lot. 99/100 of all hopes are false. No green goblin will come and help spiderman just a second before he is gonna be killed (ref. spiderman 2). The thing you need to do is stay away from hope as much as possible so that you can think straight and can contemplate all possibilities and if you are really attached to the hope thing, maybe you can ask your close friend to keep it for you. But really it never helps, it just clouds your mind with distantly possible outcomes.
Fifth, and now i really think i should stop, is that the world is not white or black or even grey. It has all the colors of the spectrum. Best eg., joker (ref batman 2). Clearly the guy is not good, neither is he ordinary bad. He has his messed up logic. Maybe there are people who agree with it. I knew a person who thought natural calamities are good because they help in reducing the world population. Even if u want to classify things as black or white, you can never say white is white because from some other perspective it is black. Usually the one who survives to tell a story is white. So basically they are just people with the the weird ways in which they see things.
So, even when you are sure that something has to be done in a particular way because it is the right thing to do, people just wont do it. The reason is simple, they want to see a different outcome from the same thing. the culprit here is the 'want'.
Maybe these are the reason why we all hate to grow up. As kids we always believe in triumph of good over evil and how the end will always be happy. Then, believe in things like results are proportional to hard work or how easy it is to just punch your friend in his face, swear at each other, then forget about it in a few days and get back to being good friends. Also how they keep on hoping, keep on waiting for a miracle, like maybe bhajji will hit a century if all batsmen fail and win us the match or even trust a person never worrying about what is the color of their thoughts. Just plain unadulterated belief that the person is super nice or super bad.
Most people hate growing up, because each time they do, they have to kill something as innocent as this. The thing is that these very things make us humans and so growing up actually means we either become machines or we become animals.
As for me, i am still on the edge. I can still choose what i want to be. Its simpler to be a grown up and just fit-in with the people around me. But its much more fun not to. I don't want to know what ego and pride are, or what success or failure is, or that hope is bad and hard work is futile. so i ll keep doing it regardless of the pain it gives because it gives immense pleasure inside to be 'human'. Better it will let me sleep well at night. For now, growing up is bad. Therefore, all my friends, be aware i may punch you in your face if i do not like something that you have done or something that you have become.
Well written considering the it is perspective of the author. But the article portrays a situation wherein the world around is dark and always brings tough times on us. The author has taken a pessimist stand towards life and considers him extremely unlucky.
ReplyDeleteBut reality, this is not entirely true. The world is really a nice place to live in.We do not have total control of our surroundings .Part of it is in our jurisdiction to change and the rest is out of our control. So what we are left is with hope and faith in God. So great things can be achieved by having faith in ourselves as well as in others.
However, growing up brings in various responsibilities on us as well as work pressures. So we cannot behave foolishly or as careless as we were during childhood but we can surely nurture a small child in our hearts which can be brought out any time and enjoy life to the fullest rather than turning into machines or animals.
I think it was an honest effort at being rational, which is a very practical way 2 go abt things but u went a tad bit towards a pessimistic view...
ReplyDeleteAnyways.. well tried.. keep it up.. (n don't bug me 2 read it everytime u write!!)
@Tommy - u tryin 2 write a blog in reply 2 metya's blog??
Everything is nicely put though if u'd hv said those things to me in person i'd hv debated on every single sentence. Lol. Its alright. Dark is also a shade and even if it is leaning towards pessimism on paper, thru experience i cn say that it must hv made u feel great in the end. Thats what counts. Keep writing
ReplyDeletemihir very well said nice blog :)
ReplyDeleteMihir, first of all congratuations for a detailed view..well written..but I kinda dnt agree wid whtever u have tried to imply..I also would like to support akshay for his thoughts...i think he said it well enuf..
ReplyDelete1.good work..
ReplyDelete2. der r heroes...it can be frm a person to a simple inspirational thought in ur mind..
3. if u have a fight or a brawl, leave ego aside nd make up..dat's y amir khan does nt become a loner in dch..nd der's nthin worse dan being a loner and an outcast.
4. it is hope that people survive on..if it wasnt for hope, lance armstrong wouldnt overcome a last stage cancer nd win d tour de france 7 times..
Dont you think 'growing up' is that wonderful thing which gives you the freedom to think about what you have said....It gives you the discretion to chosse your way of life...as a kid or whatever..!!
